There are currently no legal sports betting options for residents of the state of Oklahoma. Sports gambling is not explicitly stated under this section of the law (21-942) while card and dice games are. A conviction of this crime carries with it a fine of up to $100 and a jail sentence of up to one month. While some states have specific laws against bookmakers but not bettors, Oklahoma State statutes make placing a bet in Oklahoma a misdemeanor. Placing bets outside of these casinos is illegal by Oklahoma law. With nearly 60% of the vote, this law was passed, and Vegas-style casino gaming was legalized throughout the state. In 2004, State Question 712 was posed to Oklahoma residents on the ballot asking if they would like to see the state approve Class III gaming at these tribal casinos.

Tribal GamingĬlass II gaming is limited to only bingo and lottery types of games. The compact signed by the state of Oklahoma and its tribes allowed for casinos across the state to offer Class II gaming and parimutuel horse racing betting. Five years prior to this, the Choctaw tribe had begun hosting high stakes bingo games on their own. Oklahoma signed its first compact with its many Native American tribes in 1992.
